National History Academy: Washington, D.C. – Archives, NMAH, U.S. Capitol

June 25, 2018

Today I was able to take my students to Washington D.C. as part the National History Academy.  We were able to visit the National Archives, the National History Museum and the Capitol building.  Students from all over the country ranging from sophomores to seniors were able to see the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and the Magna Carta and discuss history with leaders in the field.  The students were amazed to see these pivotal pieces of the United States history.  As a history teacher, these events set forth my path into education and have always been adored.  Watching young men and women fulfill their internal desire to learn more about history brought tears to my eyes.  I cannot believe that I am able to experience this for 5 weeks.
